Sincere Thanks

First of all, my sincerest thanks go to Karim, Seaned, Delphine, Fabian, Nikita, Oxana and her community, Arnaud, Pierre, Pascal, Nikkita, Lorraine, Evelyne, and many others for agreeing to support the children of Mataba in my village. I have been visiting my village every year for almost eight years now, and I have seen real change. Educating young boys and girls, who stay with their families while attending the École Privée Étoile Rubengera every morning, is paying off. The school takes great care of these children from kindergarten, and they finish their primary education speaking perfect English.
Most young people who finish primary school with a solid foundation are perfectly capable of continuing their secondary education in the country with excellent grades, and then entering university. This is a long-term commitment: supporting a parent and a child throughout their educational journey. Pauline introduces you to a child living with their parents, but whose parents may not necessarily have the means to enroll them in a private school. The school fees range from 210 to 390 euros depending on the year. You will be in direct contact with the school for the follow-up of the child you choose to support. You will accompany them from primary school to university, through secondary school. You change the life of a child, who in turn can transform the entire community.
The parents of my village and I will be eternally grateful to you. It is by working together for education that we become more united and adopt universal values.

Call for School Construction

On the other hand, if you too, like Bert, would like to join our effort by building more classrooms for the children in my village of Mataba, know that Bert has already built three phases, totaling 12 fully equipped classrooms in our district. All the schools have even placed a plaque with his name on them, in honor of his generosity and humanity.
To build a project with three classrooms, the cost is 40,000 euros. Once the building permit is granted by my hometown and a suitable plot of land is found, the project can be completed in two months. You and your friends can then come to the village to inaugurate the school. Mataba, being a public school, offers an incredible opportunity for children to be welcomed in better conditions. A group of 16 people, including your family or friends, could spend two weeks in the country, discover the Big Five, visit the village easily, and even work with the children if desired.
The parents and I sincerely thank Bert for his initiative, as well as all those who wish to join this educational effort.

One-time Support

For those who would like to help just once, without a long-term commitment, we always have mini-projects at the Mataba school. This could include building playgrounds, purchasing sports team uniforms, etc. For example, my neighbor, the surveyor Mbaguririki, built playground equipment like a carousel, swings, etc. You just had to see the joy of the children to understand the impact of these initiatives! We are also working on developing a football field for them.
We also purchased uniforms for the women's handball team, and they were thrilled to proudly represent their school in Mataba.
